CAMELLIAS IN LUCCA, March

Ancient Camellias of Lucca is a ritual that takes place every year in the period of flowering camellias grown in Compitese (an area south of Lucca ) .
Exhibitions, events , tastings , demonstrations , centered camellias and one of its most precious fruits: tea, stretch over three weekends in March.
The hills of Lucca has some of the oldest camellias in Europe. Imported in the eighteenth century by the merchants of Lucca , these extraordinary plants, spread all over the territory of Tuscany , you are easily adapted to the Mediterranean climate and are an elegant ornament for local parks and gardens .
In March, during the flowering period , you can admire the largest specialized exhibition in Italy, you can visit modern gardens and parks of historic mansions open to the public for the occasion.
The Village of the Camellias, located in the countries of the Parish and St. Andrew Task - Lucca , will host the XXIII edition of the exhibition Ancient Camellias of Lucca with all its history and all its charms .

The show will be visible through three different routes,
- The route leads to the discovery of Camellia plants that inhabit the village .
- The historic route takes visitors to discover the works which represent memories of the past in their village and parish of St. Andrew Task .
- The route of the water is instead focused on the Rio Visona. Along this route there are artifacts and structures related to the theme of water, such as crushers , water sources , sinks and bridges stone.
